From the Collection #7: Surf’s Up!

Just in time for summer, one of the newest additions to our collection is this rare antique women's bathing suit, ca. 1900. The garment consists of an attached shirt and bloomers (they even have pockets!) with a skirt that buttons over top. It is constructed of wool serge, the same material used in nuns' habits. This item was donated in memory of Carol Bell Taylor Locke, Jeffersonville, VT.
