This Memorial Day, we honor service members that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This page from the August 14, 1943 "victory issue" of the St. Albans Messenger listed Franklin County residents that had been lost thus far fighting in World War II. The names listed are:
MIA: Roger Dunton and Donald R. Bruso
POWs: Robert J. Sharrow, Benard P. Fournier, Charles M. Lewis, and James W. Wardlaw
KIA: Alton Ray Corey, Sgt. Charles Leo, PFC Kenneth E. Farrar, Harold A. Couture, Capt. Maurice A. Bisson, Robert Draper, Richard K. Clough, Robert Rogers, Staff Sgt. Joseph Navratil, Sgt. Harold E. Bessette, Garth Fletcher, Lieut. Everett J. Carney, Douglas Burns, Brainerd Wells Andrews, Staff Sgt. Carmi A. Bordo, and Pvt. Alden Church
We remember and thank these men, and all that have lost their lives while serving
