From The Archives: Saint Albans Bay Park
The stone bathhouse at the Saint Albans Bay Town Park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), company #1134 in 1933, by men ages 18- mid 20’s. The site was originally named the Chester A. Arthur Camp.
In 1987 the State of Vermont turned ownership of the 17-acre park over to the Town of Saint Albans.
Containing a changing area, snack bar and places for those recreating on the beach to relax and enjoy, the original bathhouse was truly a sight to see.
Overlooking Saint Albans Bay, the Bay Park hosted thousands of visitors each summer. The Bay was once as active as the waterfront in Burlington; home to a ferry, resorts, hotels, shops and so much more.
The Bay Park is still visited by locals and visitors alike, enjoying events, music, the farmers markets, the beach, or just walking along the shore. The Saint Albans Museum and partners hold our annual Lake Lessons program for Franklin County fourth grade students at the Bathhouse and Bay Park.
The Saint Albans Bay Park and the Bathhouse are a treasure, and a place where history and community join together.
