Spotlight #5: Miranda Aldis Brainerd

Miranda Aldis Brainerd, daughter of Lawrence Brainerd and Fidelia Burnett Gadcomb, was born in St. Albans on December 12th, 1841. In 1886, Miranda became a charter member of the Bellevue Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She became Regent of this chapter shortly after, and served for multiple years. Following this, Miranda became the State Regent of the DAR, and served from 1903 until 1907. In addition to her outstanding military service, Miranda served as the President of the Vermont Society of Colonial Dames, and was an active member of the Daughters of 1812 and Descendants of the Mayflower. She was also known to have rare musical talents and abilities. Miranda was a woman of many hats!
