From the Archives #29: Old Home Week

This photo and the accompanying caption were originally posted to our Facebook page (link to external site) on May 10, 2023.

Sepia-toned photograph of motorists driving down a road during a parade.

Everything old is new again...
On the left side of this photograph, Dr. and Mrs. Stanford Stevens (he was superintendent of St. Albans Hospital) can be seen driving their electric car, likely the first of its kind to be seen in St. Albans. The parade they drove in was held during Old Home Week, a popular festival in New England at the time. During Old Home Week, former residents were invited back to their hometowns to celebrate the communities they grew up in. This photograph was taken on the corner of Bank and Main St., and the large building in the background is Jeff's Maine Seafood today.
